Surge for Bishop
Hundreds of new endorsements for Bishop as Delegates switch from Schuette to Bishop
"After a great deal of consideration I have decided to withdraw my prior endorsement of Bill Schuette for Attorney General. I have been greatly disturbed in the last two weeks with tactics now being utilized by the Schuette campaign. I don't believe that a candidate who proclaims himself a "Reagan Republican" should be relying on violation of Reagans 11th commandment to wage his campaign."
 -John Connolly
"After further review of each candidate for Attorney General, I have decided to revoke my endorsement of Bill Schuette and give my support to Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop. In my heart, I know I must endorse the most conservative candidate to run for this very critical office.
"Senator Bishop has fought the tough battles against big government liberalism in this state. As a Constitutionalist, I believe Mike Bishop embodies the spirit of the Tea Party movement and is the kind of leader who will stand up to a federal government that continues to trample on our rights as American citizens. Please disregard the use of my name in any further correspondence from the Schuette campaign." -Wild Bill Hollister

Senator Tom George, M.D. Endorses Bishop
Today, State Senator and Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Tom George endorsed Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop for Attorney General. Senator George is the third gubernatorial candidate to endorse Bishop in his race to become the next Attorney General in Michigan.
"As a candidate for Governor, I traveled the state listening to the families, business owners and senior citizens. Their resounding plea was to see strong leaders in government who aren't afraid to make tough decisions. In the race for Attorney General, Mike Bishop is the man who will deliver those qualities."
"Mike Bishop has been a strong leader in the Senate. His vision for our caucus has been to put conservative ideas on the table and stand firm behind them regardless of media scrutiny. Mike has taken many bullets for this party."
Senator George is practicing physician in the Kalamazoo area and a second term State Senator. Senator George has led several major issues during his tenure in the legislature, including the fight against the stem cell ballot drive in 2008.
Tea Party Leader Drops Support for Schuette, Endorses Bishop
A statement from Wild Bill Hollister, Co-Chairman of the Metro Detroit Freedom Coalition:
"After further review of each candidate for Attorney General, I have decided to revoke my endorsement of Bill Schuette and give my support to Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop. In my heart, I know I must endorse the most conservative candidate to run for this very critical office.

Mike Bishop On The Issues
 Protecting Michigan- State Sovereignty
I believe we are in the midst of Constitutional crisis in our country. The federal government continues to arrogantly pass laws to increase the size and scope of government. In the past two years we've seen the federal government steamroll the personal rights of our citizens and blatantly ignore the rights of the states. We need strong leadership to stand up to government that has gone completely out of control. We need to be aggressive and dedicated to our support and defense of our constitution and send a very clear message that we will not tolerate excessive and runaway government.
 Obamacare
I believe the federal healthcare bill passed by our US government is the most sweeping invasion of personal liberty in U.S. history. I wholeheartedly support the opposition who believe that this mandate is unconstitutional and unenforceable. As Attorney General, I will vehemently continue the prosecution of Michigan's lawsuit challenging Obamacare and as sworn member of the bar of the US Supreme Court, I look forward to arguing the case myself in the highest court in the land.
 Arizona immigration law
I believe the core function of government is to protect the people. The federal government has failed to fulfill its duty by refusing to pass even the most remedial immigration reform. Somehow the feds have not figured out what the word "illegal" means and continue their political correctness to avoid the issue entirely. Meanwhile, the boarder states are being deluged by waves of illegals coming into our country. It threatens our nation's fragile economy and threatens the safety of our families.
I spoke personally with Chuck Gray, Arizona's Senate Majority Leader, who told me of the atrocities along his southern border and the growing danger for the citizens of his states. The federal government has failed to fulfill its core function, to protect people. It is therefore the right, indeed the obligation, of the Arizona legislature to do whatever they need to do to protect their citizens. Instead of supporting their effort, the United State of America is suing Arizona, using our tax dollars. Absurd and despicable abuse of our nation's Constitution and the rights of all of our states.
 Unfunded Mandates
I believe the huge debt, laid at the feet our children and future generations; massive tax increases; taxpayer dollars spent on corporate bailouts; government takeover of private business; unconstitutional mandates; a fleecing of our personal wealth, is intended to steal our freedom and make us dependent upon government. The insanity of big government must stop. We cannot spend our way into prosperity. As Senate Majority Leader, I've led the charge to make government live with in its means and balance the budget without tax increases.

10 REASONS TO SUPPORT MIKE BISHOP FOR MICHIGAN ATTORNEY GENERAL

Senator Mike Bishop has been a strong, conservative leader for Michigan, standing up (along with fellow Senate Republicans) to liberal, big government policies of Jennifer Granholm and the Democrat controlled Michigan House of Representatives. Mike has stood on principle, even against leaders in his own party, as a standard bearer for the ideals of limited, Constitutional government.
These are 10 reasons why Mike Bishop should be nominated as the Republican candidate for Attorney General (in no particular order):

Mike Bishop believes as a public servant, he has a duty to represent his constituents in an ethical, transparent and cost effective way. That's why he has a 100% attendance record (never missed a vote) and has continuously introduced legislation to create part-time legislature, with part-time pay.
Mike Bishop was the author of the Identity Theft Protection Act, protecting individual sovereignty by making the growing crime of identity theft a felony.
Mike Bishop sponsored legislation that created the Michigan Child Protection Registry, allowing parents to protect their children from inappropriate solicitation on the internet. This became model legislation, adopted by states nationwide.
Mike Bishop has always been a stalwart advocate of Second Amendment rights, championing right-to-carry legislation ("shall issue") in his first term in public office. He is a gun owner with a CPL and a continual A/A+ rating from the NRA.
Mike Bishop has always been strong defender of the rights of the unborn, receiving a lifetime 100% Pro-Life record from Michigan Right to Life.
Mike Bishop is the only candidate with extensive private sector law experience, having spent years representing individuals, businesses and prosecuting cases for local governments. He has been self-employed and knows how to meet a budget.
As Senate Majority Leader, Mike Bishop has been vetted statewide by a relentless media as the leading voice for Republicans in this state. Polls show he can win statewide and he will campaign diligently for Republicans up and down the ticket.
Mike Bishop has reduced the size of Michigan government throughout his term as Senate Majority Leader-putting forth $1.1 billion in cuts this year alone. He has a 100% rating from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and is the only Senate Majority Leader to ever be named Michigan's "most conservative" member of the Senate.
Mike Bishop has been an advocate for a less intrusive government and defending personal liberty by opposing smoking bans and mandatory seat belt and helmet laws.
Mike Bishop is sworn in before the United States Supreme Court would be honored to argue the case against Obamacare himself. He will continue the lawsuit and work with other Attorney's General to resist federal legislation that places more unfunded mandates on states and violates the Constitutional rights of our citizens.

This Saturday August 28th, Republican delegates should elect a proven conservative leader with the right experience to be our next Attorney General. Mike Bishop is the most qualified, most electable and most importantly has demonstrated the political courage to stand up for what is right!
"Now isn't the time for another pick from the political elite. We need to nominate an Attorney General who can win in November and who will fight for us, not the special interests" - Mike Bishop

			<title>The Truth About The MBT</title>

The Truth About The MBT
In recent days my inbox has been filled with questions regarding the Michigan Business Tax. It seems that this campaign has evolved into a debate about the origins of the tax and how the next Attorney General will fix it. To be clear, there isn't a single thing the Attorney General does about changing tax policy in this state. I've attached a link to an organizational chart of the attorney General's office (http://www.michigan.gov/documents/AGorg01-11-05_117507_7.pdf) to clarify that point. I could go on for hours debating my opponent on tax policy, but that would only take time away from the real issues facing the next Attorney General.
The following letter is from Patrick L. Anderson, a delegate in the 8th District. Patrick was THE person who wrote the language to repeal the SBT and one of the most knowledgeable people in the state on the subject of state tax policy and the MBT. In short, he's able to separate fact from fiction. Please take a moment to read his thoughts on the MBT attacks.

 Dear Mike,
It was nice talking with you today. As we discussed, I am not happy about the negative emails and letters that are bombarding our delegates right now. I was particularly displeased with the ones blaming you for the Michigan Business Tax.
This is a topic of particular interest to me. My friend Brooks Patterson and I first started talking about repealing the job-killing, unfair Single Business Tax in 2005. Governor Granholm had repeatedly blocked efforts to lower the SBT burdens on employers in the legislature. An initiated law was a way to let the people overrule the Governor, and Brooks was ready to lead the charge. He asked me to write an initiated law to repeal the tax, to be circulated by petitions in 2006. That petition (now Act 325 of 2006) was very clear:
Sec. 1. The purpose of this initiated law is to: (a) Repeal the single business tax on business activity in this state after December 31, 2007; and (b) Encourage the legislature to adopt a tax that is less burdensome and less costly to employers, more equitable, and more conducive to job creation and investment.
Many contributed time and money to this effort, for which the citizens of this state should be very thankful. Finally, on August 9, 2006, both the House and Senate adopted the initiative, which thus became law without the Governor's signature. The Senate Journal for that day records special statements by Democrat Senators Mark Schauer, Gretchen Whitmer, Liz Brater and others denouncing the new law, while Republicans including Mike Bishop, Ken Sikkema, Michelle McManus, Alan Cropsey, Jason Allen, and Nancy Cassis supported it.
Mike, you were supportive of our efforts to repeal the SBT back in 2006. I believe it is unfair and incorrect to blame you for the MBT, especially the MBT with the surcharge imposed at the behest of Governor Granholm.
This is a good time to recall Ronald Reagan's "11th commandment." I am pleased we have multiple, competent, conservative candidates for offices like the Attorney General, and see no benefit to Michigan citizens or the Republican party from pretending otherwise.
I can't correct every misleading statement that finds its way into my mailbox, but I have personal knowledge of this one.
 Best wishes,
 Patrick L. Anderson

BOUCHARD ENDORSES BISHOP FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard announced today his endorsement of Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop for Attorney General. Michigan Republicans gather on August 28th to nominate candidates for statewide office. "Mike Bishop is a strong, conservative leader who has been the voice for Michigan taxpayers in the legislature," Bouchard said. "Michigan needs Mike Bishop's leadership as Michigan's Attorney General." Bouchard stated that Michigan would be much worse off if Senator Bishop hadn't been the firewall against tax increases and runaway government spending. "Mike Bishop stood firm on his conservative principles and blocked literally billions of dollars in tax increases proposed by democratic leaders in Lansing. He was even outnumbered two to one in the process. He doesn't talk the talk, he walks the walk." For the last 10 years, Mike Bouchard has been the Sheriff of Oakland County in Southeast Michigan and was a republican candidate for governor this year. Year in and year out, Sheriff Bouchard is consistently regarded as one of America's most respected law enforcement officials. "I am proud to offer my support to Mike Bishop as he works to become Michigan's top law enforcement officer. As a law enforcement officer, I know a leader when I see one. I look forward to working to elect Mike Bishop as our next Attorney General."

 Dear Fellow Conservatives:
Bill Schuette, candidate for Michigan Attorney General, was elected to Congress in 1984. On the campaign trail, Mr. Schuette touts himself as a stalwart "Ronald Reagan Republican" who helped advance the President's conservative agenda in the 1980s. History tells a different story.
Bill Schuette was a paid operative for the George H.W. Bush Presidential campaign in 1980. Schuette and other Bush operatives refused to support the nomination of Ronald Reagan until Bush was added to the ticket. George Bush himself came to address the Michigan delegation to convince Bill Milliken, Randy Reicker (Schuette's mentor) and the Bush loyalists (Schuette included) to cast a unanimous ballot for Reagan.
In 1984, Bill Schuette was elected to United States Congress thanks to a sweeping re-election victory for President Reagan. During Schuette's three terms in Congress (two under President Reagan), he casted key votes against the key pillars of the Reagan legacy: reducing the size and scope of the federal government and standing strong against the Soviet Union. Bill Schuette voted to override several of President Reagan's vetoes on runaway government spending; voted multiple times against Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative and voted to empower government regulatory agencies like the EPA.
Bill Schuette's votes are well documented by the American Conservative Union. Facts are stubborn things. Next time Schuette proclaims to be a "Ronald Reagan Republican" ask him where he was in 1980 or why he voted to oppose the President's initiatives while in Congress.
The only candidate with conservative leadership credentials in the Michigan Attorney Generals race is Mike Bishop. As Senate Majority Leader, Mike Bishop has fought a liberal Governor, a liberal House of Representatives and moderates within his own party to protect taxpayers and reduce the size of Michigan government. He is a man of principle and integrity with a philosophy, demeanor and style most similar to Ronald Reagan. He has the professional skills and the commitment to Constitutional principles to be a strong Attorney General in a time where we need one most.
 Sincerely,
Norman Hughes Terry Davis Clara Giordano Paid for by Mike Bishop for Attorney General P.O. Box 13292 Lansing, MI 48901
